I was reluctant to spend a lot of money on Orangutanuary. Not only am I out of work (to be a SAHM), but it’s just past Christmas. I also have a shed-full of cosmetics just sitting idle and it all seems such a waste.
I tried the homemade alternatives for keeping clean. I washed just with water, and tackled my hair with baking soda and apple cider vinegar. I exfoliated with coffee grounds, made my own deodorant and moisturised with coconut oil. I avoided makeup for all but one day so far this month. And I’ve stretched the eco-cleaning to the house, using baking soda and vinegar to clean the kitchen and bathrooms. I’d love to say I love this new me, but I can’t! I need products! Day two, and I’m being let down by my own lack of will power! The Co-operative mini Gingerbread Shapes were calling and they are only 40kcal each…but clearly labelled with palm oil as an ingredient.
